Do you thrive on solving genuinely complex deployment problems, spanning cloud, on premises, and virtual appliances deployed at global scale? Are you an infrastructure engineering manager who thinks like a builder rather than an operator, stays technically sharp, connects engineering work to business outcomes, and knows how to grow engineers rather than just manage them? Then we're looking for you!

About the assignment
You'll be stepping into ownership of two strong engineering teams, around 10 engineers combined, at a pivotal moment for the organization's deployment architecture. This isn't a role about keeping the lights on: the platform needs to evolve, and you're expected to help drive that forward. Your teams work on backend engineering for deployment: CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployment on Azure (including AKS and Terraform), and virtual appliance deployments (packaged, zip based deployments to on premises environments) across a global customer base, including regions like Australia and Brazil. The deployment landscape is intentionally complex: monoliths, microservices, single and multi-tenant SaaS components, all needing to scale reliably worldwide. Beyond your own teams, you'll work closely with peers on broader infrastructure strategy, hosting strategy, data sovereignty, observability, and the continued evolution of the cloud platform. This is a role focused on internal platforms for engineering teams, not IT operations or enterprise IT infrastructure.
What you will be doing
- Lead and grow two engineering teams (around 10 engineers) working on CI/CD, cloud deployment, and virtual appliances
- Drive the evolution of a complex, global SaaS deployment architecture, including single and multi-tenant components and on premises deployments
- Stay hands on and technically credible enough to engage on hard engineering problems with your teams
- Proactively contribute to the technical roadmap and identify gaps before they become problems
- Collaborate with peers on cross-team infrastructure strategy, hosting strategy, data sovereignty, and observability
- Champion engineering productivity, including how AI tooling can change what's possible for your teams
- Coach and challenge engineers, distinguishing between a team that performs and one that just ships
Requirements
- Strong technical background in cloud deployment or platform engineering, with around 7 years of relevant experience (somewhat less is fine with comparable experience from a similar environment)
- 3+ years of experience leading and growing engineering teams, not just managing them
- Experience in operationally critical environments; affinity with virtual appliance based deployment models is a strong plus
- Ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes, build effective stakeholder relationships, and communicate professionally in English
About the organization
This is an established, internationally growing SaaS company that has spent years building software that helps service teams around the world improve how they deliver service. With revenue in the tens of millions and a growing international customer base, the organization finds itself at a pivotal stage: the platform is being modernized, cloud foundations are being strengthened, and there's significant investment in the engineering capacity needed to sustainably support global scale.
A culture of ownership, transparency, and pragmatic problem-solving is central: "you build it, you own it." Teams work in an agile way, in two-week sprints, using retrospectives to continuously refine how they work. The backlog is managed collaboratively, and there's plenty of room for personal input; engineers are expected to help shape the direction of the platform, not just execute on it.
The organization places strong value on open communication and constructive feedback, in an environment where every voice is heard. Work happens largely on-site, in close contact with colleagues across the various engineering teams, so knowledge is shared easily and decisions can be made quickly. At the same time, there's genuine attention to work-life balance and to the future of work: how to stay connected as a team even as the organization continues to grow and internationalize.
